Green Tip ~ Online Business Tip ~ Excel Tip
So 2018 comes to an end and what a year it has been. The Rand is slightly stronger but it is rumoured that the USA could be heading for recession.
May you all have a wonderful break over the next few weeks, travel safely and return refreshed.
Start a group in your area to collect rubbish and keep your streets clean. Clean streets make people feel proud and they put off rodent invasions.

Three productivity studies were conducted by Autodesk to highlight the dramatic time-savings and productivity gains of performing common design tasks using the Architecture, Mechanical and Electrical toolsets versus using basic AutoCAD alone. A few highlights from the studies:
This is a real improvement in the quality of this solution. Want to move your platform here?
Please note that your new Autodesk software has to be activated using your account logon within 30 days. Thereafter, please log onto your account monthly to receive the latest updates, so that your software stays current. You can use your account to access training videos and support via AVA as well. If AVA can't solve your problem, it can be escalated to Autodesk Support who will phone you to sort it out. Following on from last
month, we are looking at how to use the free listing of your
business on Google My Business. We enter via www.google.co.za
and then [1] click the "grid" icon near the top right. Click "My
Business" at top right to go into Google My Business.
[2] Click the "Main Menu" (three bars) icon (shown near top left of
the picture below), to reveal the menu. [3] Click Photos, the 6th
menu item. As shown in the picture below, you can (should!) add a
cover photo, perhaps a video about your business, and possibly other
photos. Since we live in a visual culture, businesses with visuals
get more business!

We can honestly say that running our business has become smoother and easier. The support offered by Intuit is also very good.
Still working on my exam as I have been overwhelmed by the amount of learning that I am doing!
Also look at the QuickPerks site for connections to your desktop.
To give the pros and cons, just stop to read this:
I downloaded the app onto my Tablet and had great fun using it to demonstrate the product!
Please note that Standard Bank's new format is extremely difficult and we still have to be able to test it on the QuickBooks Cloud option.
Recently, we were asked for a CM1 form by SARS in order to continue to use eFiling. I went onto the CIPC site to find this with no luck. So I sent out a Messenger to friends, whom I know are involved in accounting. Richard Armour came back with the solution within hours. He has just launched his own accountancy business and I can highly recommend him. Here are his details:

I am a chartered accountant - performing tax / accounting / advisory and I can do secretarial stuff as you see.
I am also a Commissioner of oaths
I want to help entrepreneurs understand what is happening n their businesses.
How to maximise cash from their sales.
I was group accountant at a listed Chemical company, and then was head-hunted for the chemical company beneath them on the JSE board to do IFRS conversion.
I have recently worked for smaller companies as FD, most recently at a laboratory supply company, that was going through the motions of growing into a medium sized company, not just selling enough to subsist.
We are looking at what is new in Excel 2016 for Windows Desktop, compared with Excel 2010. On the Insert ribbon, in the Charts group, there is a new button for PivotCharts. Earlier, we created a Pivot Table and modified it to look like this:
Sum of Amount | Column Labels
Row Labels | East | North | South | West | Grand Total |
Cape Town | R116,000 | R166,600 | R282,600
East London | R244,000 | R261,100 | R505,100
Kimberley | R152,400 | R95,800 | R248,200
Pretoria | R373,500 | R373,500
Grand Total | R489,500 | R152,400 | R506,400 | R261,100 | R1,409,400 |
Last time, we applied a filter to the table, and saw the chart change. Then we applied a filter to the 3-D Stacked Column Pivot Chart "Destination" and saw the pivot chart and the pivot table change. We will now be more radical.
At present, as shown above, the pivot table has Row Labels as the Destination cities, which form the bars in the chart. Meanwhile the Column Labels are the divisions (East, North, South, West) represented by the Legend colours in the chart.
Click on the pivot chart. On the right of the window, the "Pivot Chart Fields" window pane appears. At the bottom (the "drag fields" area), we see Destination at bottom left under Axis (Categories) and Division in the upper right quadrant under Legend (Series).
Now drag Division from the upper right quadrant under Legend (Series) to the bottom left quadrant under Axis (Categories). Drag Destination in the opposite direction from the bottom left quadrant under Axis (Categories) to the upper right quadrant under Legend (Series). This swap is shown by the blue arrows in the picture below.
Your results will look like the picture below: The pivot table now has Row Labels as the Divisions (East, North, South, West) and they form the bars in the chart. Meanwhile the Column Labels are the Destination cities, represented by the Legend colours in the chart.
Thus, reorganising the pivot table also reorganises the pivot chart (and vice versa).
Device addiction, you might have, when you turn off your cell phone and get this awful empty feeling, like you just pulled the plug on a loved one.
All the Best from the team!
